Path: Assets > Configure Asset Management > Add Required Metadata to All
The Add Required Metadata to All Templates page allows you to specify one or more Dublin Core metadata fields to add to all existing metadata templates as required metadata fields. The metadata fields you place in the Selected list on this page will display as prompts for required metadata on the Add Asset page when you add an asset using one of the existing templates.
Exercise caution when adding a required metadata field to all existing metadata templates. If you add a particular metadata field to all existing templates by mistake, you must edit each template individually to remove the metadata field from the list of required metadata fields for the template.
Available
Displays a list of all the available Dublin Core metadata fields on the system.
You can select or multiselect one or more metadata fields and then click Select, or you can double-click individual metadata fields to move them to the Selected.
Selected
Displays a list of metadata fields selected as required metadata fields for digital assets that are created or imported into the digital asset hierarchy.
You can select or multiselect one or more metadata fields and then choose Remove, or you can double-click individual metadata fields to move them to the Available list. Select a single metadata field and use the arrow buttons to move it up or down in the Selected list.
Note: The required metadata fields will be added to the top of the Required Metadata list in every existing template, in the order specified in the Selected list. If a selected metadata field is already required in an existing template, that metadata field is not added to the template.
To add, remove, or reorder metadata fields in the list, choose the metadata field, and then use these buttons:
|
Option |
Description |
|
Select
|
Moves the selected metadata field from the Available list to the Selected list. |
|
Remove
|
Removes the selected metadata field from the Selected list and returns it to the Available list. |
|
Move Up
|
Moves the selected metadata field up one position in the Selected list. |
|
Move Down
|
Moves the selected metadata field down one position in the Selected list. |
Note: These buttons are context-sensitive based on the list in which a metadata field is selected. (For example, if you select a metadata field from the Available list, the Remove, Move Up, and Move Down options are disabled because those commands are not available for available metadata fields. If you select a metadata field from the Selected list, the Remove, Move Up, and Move Down options are enabled because those commands are available for selected metadata fields.)
